After all the buzz about the failure of Nintendo’s acclaimed 3D hand-held gaming console–PlayStation–set to release their own take on the next generation portable gaming console have been under some tremendous pressure. No one blames them, after the most recent high-end portable gaming device caused Nintendo’s own CEO to cut his own wages just to cover the losses of its failure. However, a very big shiny silver lining is within the grasps of the console giants, Sony, as several game publishers have come out and expressed their support of the Next Generation Portable gaming console –- The PlayStation Vita. However, the question is still looming, after all this buzz in the industry with hand-held consoles going out of trend and smartphones on the rise; will the PS vita fair better than 3DS?
Though PlayStation Vita’s release information has not been officially disclosed to the public, Sony are taking further precaution before pushing the release date of their hand-held gaming console, which will be the newest version of the popular and successful Sony PSP. You call it an overreaction after Nintendo’s demise but that is exactly the best thing to do with the industry as unstable as it is today. Sony has been meeting with some publishing giants of the gaming industry to make sure that PS Vita does not go astray when it comes to compatibility and game releases.
The most recent publisher to come forward to assure Sony of success with Vita is Electronic Arts. After EA’s President, Frank Gibeau, gave his own assessment of the Vita’s release, he was somewhat a bit more positive with his prognosis. Sony has been getting a thrashing recently with other publishers being a bit skeptical with the release of PS Vita. Just this month, Heavy Iron Studios’ CEO called the hand-held console “unwanted” just after Cytek CEO called the Vita “nonessential”.
Of course: people will realize that in a world reigned by Tablets, Netbooks, and Smartphones, it is pretty obvious where the publishers get their apprehension and rationality toward the situation. However, Electronic Arts is undeniably huge, it is one of the most active companies in publishing and developing games for all consoles, and what their President says about PlayStation Vita stating how “it’s not on the same boat as the 3DS” is certainly something to look forward to.
At least now we know that PS Vita will have a chance, perhaps even more than the Nintendo 3DS. It’s not the end of portable gaming consoles, that’s for sure. Numerous fans are still anticipating the PS Vita Release Date and still, a lot of people are hoping for Sony to come out on top.

it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it became more popular.. Nintendo is losing grasp on what non-Japanese users want.
