The Motorola Atrix II was in the news a while ago for its high end specifications and quite impressive performance. It is now again in the limelight as it is going to be on sale through AT&T for less than $100 with a 2 year contract. On the other hand, if obtained fully unlocked, the price goes up to $450.
The Atrix II looks like a standard Android offering from Motorola with the straight edges that render a good grip for the user. This is coupled with the screen taking up most of the front side of the phone that makes a good statement about its size. On the inside, the Atrix II is powered by a 1GHz dual core Nvidia Tegra processor that makes multitasking a breeze. Connectivity wise, the Atrix II has all the facilities needed to make full use of the 4G network. It is capable of data transfer rates at HSPA+ rating and the usual 3G connectivity. The phone is supported by 8GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot that can be expanded to 32GB. Other impressive features of the phone include the huge 4.3” qHD screen which offers a nearly unmatched resolution in the industry today (540×960), apart from the Droid Bionic. The screen is coated with Gorilla Glass for preventing scratches.
On the back side, the camera is a decent 8 megapixel clicker that comes with autofocus and an LED flash, along with the now standard 1080p video recording for high end devices. With the Droid line up for Verizon and several new devices entering the market through AT&T, Motorola seems to be on track to regaining a stronghold in the mobile market. How it will play out, we will have to wait and see as strong competition from Apple and HTC is already in place.
