Capcom promised a new announcement at New York Comic Con and here it is: classic 2D fighters Darkstalkers 1 (a.k.a. Night Warriors) and 3 (Vampire Savior,) will be re-released in an HD bundle entitled “Darkstalkers Resurrection.”
As with previous Capcom fighting game re-releases, these new versions of Darkstalkers will both support online play featuring the infamously smooth GGPO netcode, achievement and trophy support, several HD filters to smooth out the graphics on HD displays, and unlockable bonus content like character art from Udon. The games will also feature the ability to spectate live matches and upload replays directly to YouTube.
The “Resurrection” bundle will hit Xbox Live Arcade and the PS Store sometime early next year for $15.00 (1600 MSP.) I’m not sure why Dark Stalkers 2 wasn’t included, but regardless, fifteen bucks for two very good fighting games doesn’t sound like a terrible deal to me. Hopefully the re-release of these classics is just a prelude to a true Darkstalkers sequel, the prospect of which has been teased by Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono for quite sometime.
