Old school Sega fans looking to relive the company’s glory days are advised to pre-order the upcoming Sonic Lost World for Wii U, as customers who do so will be given access to a special level themed after one of Sonic Team’s most beloved cult classics.
Preorders for Sonic Lost World will automatically be upgraded (at no additional cost,) to the “Deadly Six Bonus Edition” of the game, which contains a special level themed after Sega and Sonic Team’s 1996 classic NiGHTS: Into Dreams. In the new level, Sonic will continue his battle against Lost World’s new team of antagonists, the Deadly Six, who have teamed up with the six boss Nightmares from the original NiGHTS. Completing this bonus level unlocks a new Color power for Sonic to use in the main game.
I was pretty impressed with Sonic Lost World at this year’s E3, so it seems fair to assume that Lost World will continue the winning streak that began with the surprisingly good Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations. The addition of a crossover with one of my favorite Saturn games doesn’t hurt either (let’s just pretend that Journey into Dreams never happened.) Of course, there’s a chance that Lost World could once again reinstate the dreaded Sonic Cycle, but Colors and Generations were good enough that I’m willing to give Sonic Team the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Sonic Lost World will be released for the Wii U and 3DS on October 22nd.
