Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise is set to make its triumphant return to Western shores in a month, and hardcore Monster Hunters who buy both the console and the handheld versions of the game can save themselves an Andrew Jackson by ordering from Amazon.
Anyone who pre-orders both the Wii U and the 3DS versions of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate from Amazon will automatically get $20 knocked off their final total. In order to qualify for the discount, both games have to be placed within the same order. The offer is only good for pre-orders, and will expire on the games’ launch date on March 19th.
Why would you want to order both versions you ask? Well, just like Konami’s Metal Gear Peace Walker on the PSP and PS3, Monster Hunter players can quickly transfer their save data from the Wii U version into the 3DS version of the game, allowing them to continue the hunt even when they’re not at home. Likewise, saved characters from the 3DS version can be transferred into the Wii U version at any time, allowing you to take your character online with the Wii U’s exclusive online multiplayer mode (the 3DS version only features local multiplayer.)
I know that buying the same game twice sounds crazy to a lot of people, but those people probably haven’t played Monster Hunter before: these games are insanely addictive (provided you can get over the games’ admittedly steep learning curve,) and once you get into them, trust me, you will want to have access to the game on as many devices as possible. I know a lot of hardcore MH fanatics who have already sunk hundreds of hours of playtime in the old PSP and Wii versions of Monster Hunter, and I personally can’t wait to resume my Rathian slaying career next month. I don’t have a Wii U so I won’t being going in for the double-dip, but anyone with the hardware should definitely take advantage of this deal before it goes extinct.
