The Pre-E3 news is in full swing, with the biggest publishers and developers teasing bits and pieces of upcoming announcements before the main event next week. This morning, Eidos Montreal tweeted out the following message:
Are YOU ready for The Fall?
— Deus Ex (@DeusEx) June 3, 2013
So, what’s the big deal, you ask? Well, perhaps on its own that tweet doesn’t mean much; but once you consider the fact that Square Enix trademarked a series of domain names back in March along the lines of deusexthefall.com and deusexthefall.co.uk, things start to add up. Looks like we’ll be seeing more Deus Ex sometime in the near future.
I certainly don’t have a problem with more Deus Ex, as the franchise is near-and-dear to my heart. I do, however, wonder if the Cyberpunk aesthetic is about to become as tired as the zombie apocalypse. Remember Me is releasing tomorrow, and Cyberpunk 2077 is in development by the folks at CD Projekt RED, so I wonder how much more cyberpunk gamers are willing to stomach. Of course, Deus Ex is one of the original cyberpunk games, so I would never argue that it doesn’t belong. We’ll see what Eidos Montreal has in store come E3, but for now it’s safe to assume this will be a next-gen title.
Are you folks excited to hear about a new Deus Ex game? What features would you like to see carry over from Human Revolution? Is there room enough for another cyberpunk-themed title?
