I have to admit, every time we get a new product for review, a rush of excitement and anticipation warms my body. Whenever they are audio related, I keenly volunteered to review them. So when the Teknmotion Yapster Blaster reached my desk, I was more than eager to try them on and give them a go.
This headset was specifically made with the Xbox 360 in mind, which explains why the wires are so long, at a whopping 12′ they are more than enough for any couch gaming. There is also an adapter needed for that connection. While this may more a bit overwhelming for some users, the people at Teknmotion packaged an easy guide on how to connect their headsets with your Xbox.
While the headphones themselves were relatively comfortable for me, my editor-in-chief complained about the headphones putting too much pressure on his much larger head. In contrast however, I enjoyed how well the headphones wrapped about my much smaller ears and remained comfortable for extended periods of listening.
The headphones provide a great bass which is their strongest feature, as well as being great for general noise suppression. This gives way to late night gaming without waking up anyone else that may be nearby. The sound isn’t as clean as I would have liked it, sometimes sounding a bit muffled or muddy on both low and high volumes. As these headphones can be used for other platforms, I found that the max output on the headphones weren’t very loud when plugged into my phone.
Overall, the Yapster Blasters aren’t a bad product, and with a price tag of $29.99, you aren’t going to find a better set of headphones, especially one specifically targeted for the Xbox 360.
